Frequently asked questions
Is Wilder suitable for all dogs?
Wilder is suitable for Adult and Senior working dogs across all dog breeds. As a general guide adult dogs should be fed 2-3% of their ideal body weight per day. Some dogs may need more or less to maintain their ideal weight. Small breed dogs can need 4-5% of body weight per day.
Is Wilder Organic?
Wilder meats are sourced from Irish farms with impeccable ethics. Our Turkey is organic, the Fish is sustainably sourced, all of our Lamb, Beef and Ox meats are pasture raised grass-fed and our Duck is sourced from an award-winning farm with Michelin star chefs describing it as “the best in the world”.
Canine nutrition starts with the farming of the meat, the healthier the animal the more nutrients in the meat.
Can Wilder be served cooked?
We don’t recommend cooking the food, as this defeats the purpose of feeding a fresh raw diet.
Dogs are designed to derive their nutrients from raw animal protein, fat, and bone. Cooking the food can cause it to lose some of its natural goodness and can make it harder for the dog digest and absorb the essential nutrients it contains. However if you have a fussy eater, we advise to only gently sear the meat if needed.
Bone-free blends can be lightly seared and served once cooled down.
Do you offer any Bone-Free recipes?
Yes, our Irish Pure Green Beef Tripe and our Steak and Kidney products are Bone-Free.
These blends can be added to reduce the bone content of a meal, lightly seared and served once cooled down.
What are the benefits of Raw?
There are a vast number of health benefits that come with feeding pets a raw food diet, including superior joint and bone health, strengthened immune system, softer coats, improved digestion, better dental health, better weight control, reduced stool volume and odour, reduced body odour, reduced allergies and enhanced reproductive health.
We all understand the benefits of eating fresh, wholefoods over a processed diet and the published science behind feeding dogs this way is ever growing.
Is it normal that my pet is drinking less water on the raw diet?
Yes, this is perfectly normal. Raw diets consist of around 70% moisture and are low in sodium, therefore the dog doesn’t need to drink as much water as compared to kibble diets. Kibble has had the water removed, meaning dogs constantly need to drink water to stay fully hydrated.
How long does Wilder raw dog food stay fresh?
Wilder raw dog food is delivered frozen. Our food will stay fresh in your freezer, sealed in its original packaging for up to 12 months. Once defrosted, our food will stay good in your refrigerator for up to 3 days. The product cannot be re-frozen once defrosted.
Where and how do you deliver?
We deliver throughout the UK and Ireland via external couriers. Our delivery costs £10. We aim to deliver your order within 48 hours of despatch. All our frozen products are packed in insulated boxes along with ice packs to ensure the product arrives fresh. The food almost always arrives completely frozen. Even if the food arrives partially thawed or refrigerator temperature, it is fine to refreeze and does not affect the quality of the product. As long as one pack is still partially frozen and the rest of the packs are very cold, they are fine to refreeze. We only dispatch orders between Monday to Thursday. Weekend delivery is not available. Please note delivery times may vary during holiday periods and Bank Holidays.
What is your returns policy?
We will replace/refund customers for lost/damaged boxes/products caused by the carrier or us. We DO NOT refund/replace orders if the customer has moved and has not provided us with a change of address. Due to the perishable nature of the product, we do not accept returns.
